Oppo's Reno 10 Pro+

Oppo’s Reno series has consistently impressed with its unique designs, robust performance, and advanced camera capabilities. The latest addition to this lineup, the Reno 10 Pro+, is no exception. With its remarkable specifications and striking appearance, it aims to make a mark in the sub-Rs 60,000 category.

Amazing Design

At first glance, most smartphones seem similar, with their differentiating factors usually lying in rear design and camera placements. However, Oppo has managed to stand out with the Reno 10 Pro+. It boasts an eye-catching and distinctive design, featuring a large, pill-shaped oval camera module on the back. The dual finish paint job enhances its premium look, especially in the captivating purple variant we reviewed, which turned heads. Though, it’s worth noting that the soft finish can make it feel a bit slippery.

Oppo Reno 10 Pro+: Elevating the Flagship Experience

Despite its spacious 6.74-inch display, the phone remains comfortably manageable to hold, thanks to its curved edges that provide a secure grip. The power button and volume controls are conveniently located on the right side, while the top houses the infrared sensor. The SIM slot and charging port can be found at the bottom. The in-display fingerprint sensor works flawlessly, offering quick unlocking, although the Face Unlock feature can be occasionally unreliable. Unlike some premium phones, the Oppo Reno 10 Pro+ does not come with water resistance certification.

An Impressive Display

The 6.74-inch curved-edge display is a standout feature, impressing with its brightness, vibrant colors, and responsiveness. While it may not be the brightest display available, its sunlight legibility is notably impressive. Supporting a dynamic refresh rate of up to 120Hz, it ensures a smooth experience, whether you’re scrolling through web pages, using social media apps, streaming content, or gaming, with no screen stutter in sight.

Review by Technical GuruJi

The nearly bezel-less design enhances the visual experience, making content consumption and gaming a delight. The rear is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5, providing an extra layer of durability.

Software Experience

The Oppo Reno 10 Pro+ operates on ColorOS, offering a clean user interface with neatly organized apps in the app drawer. During the initial setup, you may be prompted to install additional apps, but you can choose to skip this step. However, it’s worth noting that the phone comes with some pre-installed apps, alongside the standard Google apps and services. Fortunately, most of these can be uninstalled, allowing you to declutter the device as you prefer.

A Performance with a Punch

While the Reno 10 Pro+ is a flagship offering, it doesn’t feature the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC found in some of its competitors. Instead, it’s powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, last year’s flagship chipset. However, this chipset proves more than capable of handling all apps and multitasking with ease. To test its power, we edited a large video captured on the device itself, and there were no signs of slowdown. Even demanding games ran smoothly, though the device did heat up after about 20 minutes of gaming. The review unit came with 256GB of onboard storage and 12GB of RAM, with approximately 28GB used for the operating system and default apps.

Great photography

The rear triple camera system comprises a 50MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 64MP telephoto lens. Both the primary sensor and the telephoto lens exhibit exceptional performance. The primary lens captures sharp images with intricate details and precise color reproduction, regardless of lighting conditions. The telephoto lens excels in portrait photography, effectively preserving object edges. It also offers 3x optical zoom and an impressive 120x digital zoom capability. However, at zoom levels exceeding 30x, the images may exhibit pixelation. In comparison to the primary lens, photos taken with the telephoto lens displayed a slight oversaturation in colors.

The device can shoot impressive 4K videos with clarity, vibrant colors, proper exposure, and a good dynamic range. The videos are well-stabilized, providing smooth footage. The dual-view video feature, allowing both the selfie camera and rear camera to record simultaneously, is a unique and practical feature for vloggers and content creators.

Even the 32MP front camera excels at capturing detailed selfies.

Battery Life and Charging

Despite its sleek design, Oppo has packed a 4700mAh battery that manages to last a full day with heavy usage. What’s even more impressive is the 100W fast charger included, which can juice up the smartphone in around 30 minutes.

At Rs 54,999, the Oppo Reno 10 Pro+ offers a distinctive design, impressive display, strong photography capabilities, and responsive performance, making it a formidable contender among flagship smartphones.
